Our History
The Tennessee Sports Foundation Range has been dedicated as the Roderick M. Fitz-Randolph Range Complex, and is located on Riverside Drive, about seven miles south of Jackson, Tennessee. The gate to the property is on the south side of a large microwave tower that can be seen from Jackson. The property contains about 124 acres. Roderick M. Fitz-Randolph was a major supporter/benefactor for the Tennessee Sports Foundation.
In September, 1998 work began to update the range. Three new berms were created in addition to the one that already existed, giving the range two sections: a 100-yard rifle range and a 50-yard pistol range. The parking lot was enlarged and a shooting cover was built on the rifle range. In 2003, additional berm safety walls were finished on the outside of the pistol range berm, creating three 20-yard bays for pistol or shotgun shooters. An awning cover was also finished on the 50-yard range. Steel containers were put on both ranges to hold materials. In November of 2003, a trailer was acquired by the range to serve as a classroom for handgun classes as well as a meeting place for the Club.
In 2007 an additional 63 acres was purchased, bringing to total to 124 acres. On Wednesday, September 24, 2008 the 500-yard rifle range was opened. During the Machine Gun Shoot on Saturday, September 27, the 500-yard range was dedicated for public usage. A concrete block building with classroom, office space, and indoor bathrooms has been added to our facilities.
