TSF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

On April 2, 2016, we need volunteers to come out and help with a Boy Scouts camp-out firearms badge qualification.

An estimated 50 youth members of the Boys Scouts of America will be descending on the Tennessee Sports Foundation for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 1-3, 2016, for a Boy Scouts Camp-out weekend.  They will be camping in an area on the property not affecting general range usage.  The range will be fully open and operational for members as usual during the weekend.

On Saturday, April 2nd, the Boy Scouts will be participating in firearms badge qualifications, and will be using the general shooting areas.  It will start roughly around 8:00 am, and hopefully, should be finished in a few hours.  Again, the range areas will be fully open to membership usage as usual.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help out with the BSA firearms badge qualifications on Saturday, April 2nd.  BSA has asked us to provide some volunteers for firearm instruction, coaching, range safety.  Volunteers will be assisting in firearm handling, loading, and assuring range safety.  To put your name on the volunteer list, or if you have questions, please contact Butch Browning at (731) 693-5510.

ALSO, if you have any youth rifles (.22) or youth shotguns (20ga) and you would like to bring to help the boy scouts in the qualifications, please bring them.  Butch says that ammo will be provided by the BSA, but they probably need some additional firearms to handle everybody qualifying and to help speed up the process.

IF ANYONE HAS A MUZZLELOADER RIFLE, the Boy Scouts would greatly appreciate people bringing muzzleloader rifles, powder, ammo, patches, tools, etc, to give a demonstration presentation for this historic firearm.  If bringing the muzzleloader firearm, and you could be gracious enough to bring extra ammo & powder, we are certain there would be boy scouts wanting to try a shot using the muzzleloader.  BSA will reimburse the person for the cost of ammo & powder the scouts use.  Estimated reimbursement cost is 0.75-$1.00 per shot, but if it costs more, please let Butch know.  If you are able to donate shooting at no cost to the BSA, that would be appreciated as well.

Again, please step up and volunteer to support the Boy Scouts of America in preserving America's historic tradition in firearms.  These scouts could use just a few hours of our time and knowledge, so let’s have a good turnout of members to pass along our shooting heritage.  Our range was set up as an educational facility, so what better time to help these young men and not let them down?  Remember, many hands make light work.  This is very important to the Boy Scouts, and it should be important to us as well.  Please call Butch Browning to get your name on the volunteer list.  We need as many volunteers as are able to attend.

For any questions and to volunteer, please call Butch Browning at (731) 693-5510.  Thank you.
